Age of couples

It’s been a very interesting year for me with wedding officiating. I have had the pleasure of marrying first time couples between the ages of 24 and 35, but also many couples on their second go round who are between 45 and 65.

So how does the ceremony script for the wedding differ? Well obviously the younger couples are definitely more idealistic, more nervous, and perhaps more concerned with the details of the party than the ceremony. The more mature couples want to embrace their life experiences, include mention of their children, and make sure their partners feel cherished and appreciated in the wedding script.

All ages of couples are always surprised by how poignant the wedding ceremony can be. Once they have met with me to go through the questionnaire and I have written their unique stories, they are always amazed when I read it to them the first time. Listening to the dialogue that they have shared, understanding the significance of their feelings towards their

partner, hearing the words that they don’t always have the time or the moment to share, can make the wedding ceremony so moving for both the couples and their guests. Including some funny stories, nicknames, unknown details, make for some laughs and even some tears.

With the experience I have gained from my interviews with couples embarking on a lifetime together, I have learned what means the most to them at their wedding. As a wedding officiant, it is my responsibility to ensure that the couple trust me to perform their wedding ceremony and pronounce them married.

Working as a wedding officiant in Miami and globally, I am blessed to experience couples with different backgrounds, life experiences, and careers, yet universally there is a common factor amongst them. Love!

So it doesn’t matter how old you are- if you feel the moment to get married is now and your don’t want a religious wedding, I would be honored to act as your wedding officiant.
